role
Videographer and photographer
Project Goal
Have been the main content creator for all four buildings of the Stay Club London student accommodation.
The difficulty of the task is due to the quirky nature of the accommodation and their target audience, and trying to produce content that is appealing and modern while being as clear as possible to the viewer.
All campuses are very dark inside and play a lot with lights, neons, and LEDs to create a playground effect for the students, and this difference in light and color is notoriously hard to capture in a natural way especially on video.
All the content has the purpose of making the accommodations as appealing as possibles, and really had to think through how to encapsulate that in videos and pictures.
SOLUTION
Through accurate study of color and the appropriate tools to calibrate color in-camera, with the added ability to control light through a series of portable light solutions the videos and photos of the accommodations come across as inviting, modern and fresh.
For the videos I tried to push the modern aspect of the accommodations and produce something that would appeal to the young target audience, with fast camera moves, bright colours and dynamic transitions. The end result is a quirky yet informative video that showcases the best sides of the spaces.
The photos are retouched in a way that makes the spaces bright and colourful, creating a sense of openness and approachability that invites people to want to know more. This is done by taking multiple exposures of the same shot and combining them to maximise available light and have the greatest flexibility.
